Donald Leopold has had an interest in nasal physiology, and especially the sense of smell his entire career. Dr. Leopold has been Professor and Chair at both Johns Hopkins Bayview (1991 – 1997) and at the University of Nebraska (1999 – 2010). He received his undergraduate degree in Engineering at the University of Michigan and his medical degree at Ohio State University. His residency in Otolaryngology was at the University of Iowa. While at Johns Hopkins, he obtained a Masters of Science in Business in 1999. Currently at the University of Vermont Medical Center, he continues with research, teaching and patient care. He is the author of over 100 articles, had been a Senior Board Examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology, past President of the American Rhinologic Society. He has served on the Residency Review Committee for Otolaryngology for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
